The Mountains are calling

Finally, the days are getting noticeably longer and warmer. Can you hear it? It’s the call of the mountains! There’s nothing for it but to answer, climbing up the highest peaks and letting your gaze wander into the breath-taking horizon.

But let’s not rush things… because there are a few things to consider when exploring the mountains in springtime. For example, the 3,000-metre peaks of your dreams might still be under a duvet of snow, and therefore out of reach. Also, don’t underestimate the temperature range: it can still be chilly, especially in the mornings. So, it’s best to start off wearing long trousers and layer your clothing, adding something extra for good measure. Don’t be fooled by the temperatures, though: our spring sun can be quite strong. So, make sure you protect yourself with sunglasses and generous amounts of sunscreen.

Packed and ready? Then lace up your hiking boots and step outside into adventure! Aparthotel Panorama Living Dolomites is the perfect starting point for your spring hikes. The paths leading into the idyllic Altfasstal valley and to the popular Bacherhütte hut lie right on our doorstep. And the beauty of it is that while the mountains still wear their snowy hat, you can enjoy a foretaste of summer basking in the sunny tranquillity of the Alpine pastures at lower altitudes, where the meadows are a sea of multi-coloured flowers.

The mountain huts in the area are open and ready to spoil the first guests of the season with traditional South Tyrolean fare. From 9 May, you can also take advantage of the Gitschberg cable car to reach an altitude of 2,100 metres – the valley terminal is conveniently located a short walk away from our apartments. Speaking of which, remember to take the complimentary Gitschberg Jochtal Almencard that we will give you on arrival: you can use it to travel on public transport, including the Gitschberg cable car (in selected periods) and seven other lift facilities, completely free of charge.
