Has a mountain sunset been on your bucket list for quite some time? With this excursion, you’ll have the chance to tick it off with a bang!
Start off from Panorama Living Dolomites in the late afternoon, heading towards Nauders/Rodeneck and continuing on a well-kept mountain road that leads to the Zumis car park, where the real adventure begins.
The first stretch of the itinerary will take you through a patch of woodland, then along a wide forest path. Follow the signposts to Starkenfeldhütte/Astjoch, and after a leisurely hike of approximately two hours, you will reach the the Astjoch saddle panoramic vantage point, on the Rodenecker Alp. There, you will be rewarded with a breath-taking view of the world-famous Dolomites and other mountains. At around 9 p.m. the sun will dip beyond the mountains, painting the sky in a spectacularly colourful display.
After sunset, you can make your way back downhill and, if you so wish, stop by at the Starkenfeldhütte hut, where you can take a breather and indulge with local fare.
Our tip: remember to pack a torch or head lamp, as well as warm protective clothing. You can also make a stopover at the Starkenfeldhütte hut on your way up.
